Tool Gives Physicians
and
Expectant Parents a Life-Like Glimpse of Babies in the Womb

- A powerful new ultrasound tool is giving expectant parents and
physicians a way to better assess the health of their baby in the womb.
Called 4D ultrasound, the device gives perinatologists a better view of
possible abnormalities such as skeletal defects, cleft lip palates,
hernias and other conditions.
4D Ultrasound adds the element of time to 3D images of the baby,
resulting in live action images of a baby's internal anatomy moving in
real time. The new tool allows physicians to detect or rule out any
number of issues, from vascular abnormalities to genetic syndromes.
The advanced ultrasound system can be used to better determine things
like fetal age, evaluating multiple or high risk pregnancies, detecting
structural abnormalities of the fetus, placental abnormalities,
abnormal bleeding and other dangerous conditions.
